1 Giulia D'Antoni

Giulia D'Antoni was a member of Graham 2 and graduated from the Professional Training Program in 2014 and the Teacher Training program in 2015 at the Martha Graham School. Giulia is currently teaching Graham Technique at Orsolina 28. Teaching credits also include the Martha Graham School, Peridance Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center, UDA New York and RIOULT Dance NY's DanceREACH Program.

1 Elena Albano

Elena Albano started her Graham Technique training in Italy, with Elsa Piperno and expanded her skills at the Martha Graham School in NYC and at the Centro National de Danza Contemporanea in Queretaro, Mexico. She has studied with many Graham Company members over the years, more extensively with Christine Dakin and Terese Capucilli. Since 1992, she is a faculty member at the Centro Studi Coreografici Teatro Carcano (CSC) in Milan, Italy. Her classes are for students of the program but also open on request. Elena also regularly gives Graham masterclasses, workshops and lecture demonstrations all over Italy.

1 Elsa Piperno

Recognized as a pioneer in Graham studies, which she introduced to Italy in 1970, Elsa Piperno established her own professional company and school in Rome after a brilliant career in London as a dancer and founding member of Robert Cohan's “London Contemporary Dance Theatre”, at the time under the direct supervision of Martha Graham. Since then she has been a leading talent on the modern and contemporary dance scene in Italy, which she helped to shape, training four generations of dancers and independent choreographers. Her teaching was instrumental in spreading both the awareness and the knowledge of the depth and complexity of the Martha Graham artistic message and technique. Chosen by Cohan, she started her teaching career in the UK and Sweden and went on to teach the full professional curriculum at her own school in Rome. She taught master classes in Florence Teatro Comunale, at the Rome Opera House dance school, in Mara Fusco's renowned Dance Lyceum in Naples. For 22 years she was responsible for the teaching of Graham Technique – and later of the repertoire – at the National Academy of Dance in Rome, while holding master classes and professional courses for the dance students of professional schools all over Italy.

1 Deanna Losi

Deanna Losi began her Graham training with Susan Sentler in 1987. After taking part in a workshop with the Graham Company in Florence, she was invited to NY to attend the Graham School and encouraged by Graham herself to keep going. In 1991 she won the first prize at the Concorso Internazionale Benetton per la Danza in Treviso and she got a prestigious scholarship to get back to NY. After numerous experiences as a choreographer, she decided to dedicate herself to modern dance training in important Tuscan schools such as Il Balletto di Toscana. She was Maurizio Nardi (Principal with the Martha Graham Company) former Teacher." She currently teaches Graham in CENTRO STUDI DANZA FIRENZE and AED ASS. EUROPEA DANZA LIVORNO.

1 Matilde Demarchi

Matilde Demarchi approaches art movement since the early 70's. After earning a scholarship from the European Community in dance and theater, in 1981 she founds and directs "Arkè", dance school  and choreographic research group. From the 80’s she studied in New York at the "Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance" and at the center of Robert Fitzgerald to deepen the knowledge of the Graham technique, the study and the application of the principles of "Pilates" in the physical preparation of the dancers. In 2005 she earned a degree in “Scienze Tersicoree” with the thesis "Psycho-physical and technical preparation of the dancer: training disciplines of the twentieth century”.

Since the 80s, she teaches Graham technique on a daily basis at "Arkè", dance school, study and choreographic research group that she founded. She has been in Italy the first to reconstruct masterpieces repertoire from the 20th Century American Modern Dance Pioneers. In 2006, the Martha Graham Center licensed the Arkè Ensemble directed by Kim Jones to perform Martha Graham’s “Steps in the Street”. Matilde performed the soloist role.  Creator of the method 19HUNDRED PILATES AND DANCE. From several years she is International Global Master Trainer for Total Gym GRAVITY System creator of the Program GRAVITY for Dancers.

1 Dominique Cavallero

PALERMO, ITALY

Dominique Cavallaro, one of the few Sicilian teachers specialized in Graham Technique, begun the study of the technique at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome with Elsa Piperno. In 2011 she obtained a degree for teaching the choreutical disciplines, among which the Graham Technique. Currently, Dominique is a contemporary dance teacher at the Liceo Coreutico Regina Margherita of Palermo where she teaches the principles of Composition and Release Technique as well as Graham Technique.

1 Lorenzo Pagano

Lorenzo Pagano is an internationally award-winning contemporary performer whose career has spanned across Concert Dance, Theatre and Opera. He started his career by joining the Martha Graham Dance Company in 2012 and becoming a Guest Artist and Assistant Rehearsal Director in 2023. He has embodied the most iconic male roles of the repertory and originated starring roles for new works by Lucinda Childs, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Nacho Duato, Andonis Foniadakis, Pontus Lidberg, Hofesh Shechter, Pam Tanowitz among others. He has danced with Paris Opéra former Étoile and Artistic Director Aurélie Dupont in Martha Graham’s Lament and was appointed Assistant Choreographer for the Holiday Event in collaboration with Christian Dior and Martha Graham Company at Sack’s NYC in 2023. Mr Pagano was honored with the Italian International Dance Award as “Male Rising Star” in 2016 and the Premio Nazionale La Sfera d’Oro in 2022.

1 Caterina Rago

Caterina Rago graduated from the Professional Training Program at the Martha Graham School. In 2009 she joined the Martha Graham Dance Company and toured in the original cast of Cercando Picasso, Baccanti & Prometeo. Caterina Rago teaches Graham technique at the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Peridance Capezio Center and Broadway Dance Center in NYC. She has restaged Graham’s Panorama (1935) for the students of the Accademia Nazionale Di Danza in 2016 and regularly teaches in Italy. She is the Director of Tecniche Di Danza Moderna, an initiative to bring American modern dance teachers to Italy/Europe.

1 Maurizio Nardi

Maurizio Nardi is a former Principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. He has joined the company in 2002 and has danced many principal roles. Maurizio has being teaching Graham Technique, demonstrating and leading lecture-demonstrations all over the world, he received the 2007 “Les Etoiles De Ballet2000” in Cannes, France. Maurizio is currently the founder and Artistic Director of Key West Modern Dance summer study program.

1 Annalisa Celentano

REGGIO EMILIA, ITALY

Annalisa Celentano graduated from the National Academy of Dance in Rome in contemporary dance with highest honors where she studied the Graham technique and methodology with Elsa Piperno. She has been teaching contemporary dance at the Liceo Coreutico in Reggio Emilia since 2012. In 2020, she published a glossary of Graham technique exercises "Accompagnamento per la lezione di tecnica Graham", containing the scores of songs for basic/intermediate level classes. The book resulted from a collaboration with the pianist composer Ciro Nacci, with whom she has been working since 2016 at the Liceo coreutico.

1 Luana D’anzi

Luana D’anzi graduated from the National Academy of Dance in Rome with a master's degree in Contemporary and Classical Dance Techniques. She studied Graham technique there with Elsa Piperno, pioneer of modern dance in Italy as well as in courses with Caterina Rago and Kenneth Topping. She organized many workshops and cultural events at private schools, associations, theaters and high schools in Italy promoting Martha Graham's technique. She also received awards with her students, especially at the Leonardo da Vinci Choreutic High School in Bisceglie and the Walter Gropius Artistic, Music and Choreutic High School in Potenza where she currently teaches.
